Table Mountain is a very popular Northern California hotspot in the Springtime. The flat mountain top comes alive with Lupin, Poppies, Glueseed, Red maids, and so many more wonderful native wildflowers. Most locals try and make a point to catch the blooms this time of year because it is such a local gem. A few weeks ago Maverick and I spent the afternoon hiking around with family. Glad to have caught this flowers in their short time to shine.
Mother. Are. Everything.
I have written about my sisters pregnancy and motherhood before and I just feel so lucky to be able to witness this beautiful growth. She came to town a few months ago and we had a little mother son studio session and I love the results. I will be offering mother studio sessions at my new studio up in Paradise, CA in the future. Love how the studio strips away all distractions and allows the image to really just be mother and child. I love photography because it allows us a way to document these special and fleeting moments in our lives. A mother with her first born child just turning one years old. That's pretty damn special.
If you're local and interested in a session please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info :)
My lovely sister, my first ever muse. I'm sure if you're familiar with my work then you've seen your fair share of Diana photos. She was my first muse and is still my favorite muse. I also feel extremely fortunate to be able to document her journey into motherhood. I spent a week with her prior to her labor, you can see our maternity shoot here. (warning, not your typical maternity shoot) I was with her and her husband in the delivery room, which was the most beautiful and crazy thing I've ever witnessed. I took some photos you can view here. And I get to see her several times a year to document her and her family's growth. It's' pretty darn special. I always joke with her that she is super spoiled and gets portrait sessions whenever she wants, but I also do enjoy and learn from them as well.
I do think this session, in particular, is a great example of my working style. I, as a photographer, try to balance between extremely intentional, classic and formal portraits with candids. As you can see in the first image, I feel like this image out of all of them describes my photographic style the best. It's formal and posed and gives space for the subject to bring their selves into the image. I like to set parameters of what I envision and then let the subject do the rest. Then there are a few more family shots that are more posed mixed in with me just observing and waiting for those little moments to capture.
I hope you enjoy this session.
This past weekend was my husbands 30th birthday. We celebrated by going up to Tahoe for the weekend with family and friends and watching the solar eclipse. Unfortunately, we were not at totality but it was still pretty incredible. The way the light and temperature were constantly changing was blowing my mind! We all posted up on a dock and it turned into the cutest party of strangers. My friend Camille brought Animal Spirit Cards and was giving everyone readings while burning sage and palo santo. It was all for fun and everyone loved it. Our neighbors were all super excited to get their cards read. We drank prosecco, looked up at the sun and all nerded out about how many people were all staring at the sun at the same time around the world. Really amazing.
A few months ago I had the opportunity to take a quick ladies trip to New York City with my mother in law, sister in law and some aunts. I was told if I buy a ticket then the rest is covered. How could I say no to that?
My family came to visit. My sister just had her first son, Wilder James. My brother and his family just had their second son, Jake Tyler. SO MANY BABIES! It's that time of my life where everyone is either starting families of still single and traveling and living young.
Thought I'd share some quiet family moments, hanging out in my living room and my brother in law teaching my nephew how to ride a bike down our orchard street.
