FAQ
How many images are included?
This varies from event to event. For weddings I will give a minimum of 500 images and for couple and family sessions a minimum of 50. That being said I will include plenty of images of everything I capture! And if there is every anything you feel I didn’t include you can always reach out to me and I will be more than happy to rummage through the original files to find those images.
Do you give RAW files?
Nope, I do not. In my opinion a RAW file is an unfinished file and half of the magic and style of my images comes from the way I edit and present my work.
How do Payment Schedules work?
I require a 50% deposit to hold the date in my calendar. The remaining balance can be paid within a week from the wedding date.
What do we wear for a couple session?
Whatever makes you feel like you! If you’re the type of person that feels most beautiful in your favorite Levi’s then by all means wear that. The couple session isn’t about dressing up in a formal dress and heels to stand in a field of flowers, the couple session is about capturing you and your partner at this moment in time. I can elaborate on this if you have anymore questions! And will be sure to send out a guide before we schedule a shoot.
What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding?
This has never happened to date, but in the case that something out of my control (sickness, death in the family, etc) Then I would do my best to find you a replacement photographer and refund your money.
What if we need to reschedule our couple shoot due to weather?
Please don’t. Embrace the crazy weather, that’s the real story. And isn’t our ultimate goal here to tell the real story. Some super incredible images come from not ideal weather.
How long have you been a photographer?
I got my dad’s Pentax 35mm camera (which I still use) when I was about 13? Been making pictures and forcing my sister to be my model since.
Did you study photography or teach yourself?
Both! Haha I have a BA in photography from San Francisco State and a Masters in Art from Mills College, Oakland. I used to shoot and develop exclusively film before I went to grad school, then I got less stubborn and realized digital is cool too.
Where are you based out of?
Northern California!
Do you have a second shooter?
Yes, my husband Maverick. He’s amazing, you’ll love him.
What is your turnaround time?
For weddings my turnaround time is 6-8 weeks and for couple and family sessions my turnaround time is less than 3 weeks.
Do you help in the planning process?
Yes! I’ve done quite a few of these and can definitely help plan. I have a lot of tips for you to incorporate and consider to get the best images possible too. I can help review timelines and such too.
How does traveling travel expenses work?
I’ve found for travel expenses it works best to just have you cover the bare minimum, transportation and stay. For example, I would book my own flight and rental car (if applicable) and would send you an invoice for reimbursement. I prefer to book my transportation to makes sure everything goes smoothly and that you don’t even have to spend time thinking about it on the day of your wedding. However, I do prefer for the couple to arrange lodging. I am very flexible with this one, it can be an airbnb, a hotel, or if you’re doing a remote wedding I’m fine pitching a tent!
Do you photograph families?
I do indeed. I especially love photographing mothers, and it’s something I feel very passionately about. The bond between a mother and child is just so fascinating and beautiful.
What if there is a specific shot I really want captured?
I’m happy to accommodate! Before your wedding or couple session I will send out a quick questionnaire for you to answer including a shot list.
My family is huge, how will you know what combinations to capture?
Shot list! Although I do highly recommend narrowing down the family photographs as much as you possibly can. This is a huge time suck and it is very hard to wrangle Uncle Joe who is off socializing. You don’t want to think back on your wedding and remember you spent an hour and a half yelling at your distant relatives to pay attention.
