I was pretty terrified of doing a boudoir shoot. Being comfortable naked? Loving my body? Stripping in front of a stranger? Not for me. But I love Dani’s work and I know that she has spent some time shooting nudes of women, and bet that she could probably make me feel comfortable. One chat over coffee confirmed that. First off: I had so much doing this shoot! We cracked some wine and played Lizzo and I felt like I was hanging out with one of my closest friends. Having fun and feeling sexy came naturally. I never felt pressured or like I was being directed. I felt encouraged and empowered. What was even more fun than shooting was selecting photos to gift to my husband. The shots were incredible—moody, sensual, and provocative yet tasteful—each a piece of art. Dani’s boudoir packages are all about presentation— giving beautiful quality prints as keepsakes. She helped me narrow it down to 12 prints (it was so hard!) to give in a sweet little box, and the option to print more at any time. I left the box for my husband to find on the morning of our wedding day. By this point, I was in love with my photos and felt like I had done this shoot 100% for myself and that if he loved them, it would just be a bonus. He loved them more than I could have imagined, was in complete awe and disbelief, and wanted to know everything about what shooting was like. It’s been a truly special gift for us to enjoy together.
